After have fishing the Soca Valley the last 10 years i suddenly noticed the different spelling on the signs at the Trebuscica River between the first two bridges. The big picture is from the second bridge and the small from the first 'stone' bridge. Anyone that have a simple answer of why there is a difference? Hey Czech,,, he he, well that´s an interesting question I am not local, but here is what we know about it... Trebuščica is an "official" geographical name for the river (but not always and everywhere!), but locals call it "Trebušica"... there are many theories about the origin of the name... Italian "tre busca" - because some farmer searched for three young cows in the Trebuščica valley or "tre buca" again in Italian- could mean holes/ deep pools- there is a lot of them in Trebuščica of course From German- "busch" could mean a "bushy" valley, full of bushes and trees, combined with the Italian language influence "Tre busch"... From old Slovenian the word "TREBA" could mean "giving" or even "sacrificing" (locus sacrificii) - Trebuščica valley could have been the place where giving/sacrificing took place... or again from Slovenian - the name Trebuščica could have an origin in the activity of "cleaning" of young forest [slo: trebiti gozd]... There are some more theories about the origin of the name, but I think the above could be the closest to the real origin Lots about it written here (unfortunatelly in Slovenian only): povezava [link] Cheers, L.
