I'm going to keep both eyes open on weather, water and hatches developments over the next few days before I finalize the dates of my next trip to your beautiful country.

I will also monitor the levels of the Unica (it seems like it's still over 100 at the old bridge in Planina) before I pack up and leave.

Hey,,,

Here is a "close shot" of the "No Kill" board from the upper picture- C&R part is a short stretch of the river above �elin and if you buy C&R licence you shouldnt fish anywhere else, which is a bit weird if you ask me, but maybe this will be changed for the next season...

It is forbidden to fish at the Kanomljica and Cerknica rivers with the tourist licences. You may find the description of the "A" sector of the Idrijca river site under the "Rivers" section of this website...

Luckyluke,

What is the difference between a C&R licence and the "B" license? I saw no mention of a C&R license on this site or the Idrija club site.

Hey MikeL,,,

the difference is, that with the licence for "B" sector you are allowed to fish all of the Idrijca river downstream from the concrete bridge in Sp. Idrija to Stopnik, except the C&R stretch above Zelin. With C&R licence you may fish only the C&R part above Zelin and not the other parts of the Idrijca river.

I am just updating the "Idrijca" river site under the "Rivers" section, so I am inviting you to take a look at it in a few minutes

No, price for the regular licence for the "B" sector is 60 EUR and for the C&R 50 EUR. "A" sector stays the same as last year- 94 EUR.

and sad news for all of us who practice the catch-and-release philosophy on any type of water, even where a bag limit is allowed.

I don’t think that many people will be happy to spend the entire day fishing on such a short stretch of river.

Let’s hope that in 2009 the R.D. Idrija will allow us to fish the entire “B” sector with the C&R licence like the R.D. Tolmin does on its own waters !

Nevertheless, I deem it extremely positive that after so many years the R.D. Idrija management decided to introduce a no-kill area, and I hope that it represents the first step in the right direction.

By the way, I know that stretch of river very well, and from what I can tell looking at the map enlargement kindly provided by “luckyluke” it seems that the C&R area starts from the bridge near the Zelinc Tourist Farm and ends before the “canyon”, where the Idrijca flows in a deep gorge well below and distant from the main road.

It already is one of the most popular spots of the entire river, easy to access and formed by a series of long, slow pools that host very selective fish (trout for the most part).

They will become even harder to catch with the recently introduced no-kill regulations !

From the map I can also tell that fishing on the tributaries (Cerknica and Kanomljica) is still prohibited with the “B” type tourist licence.

Are they accessible only by residents or also by tourists with the “A” sector permit ?

it seems not- with licence for the "A" district it is only allowed to fish at the Idrijca river. If anyone here at the forum board knows more detailed info, please let us know.

Thank you Lucky for the updated infos,

I think that the best option will be getting the regular "B" type licence and to move up and down the river during the day as I've always done in the past to avoid the crowds.

I guess that the new C&R area is going to be quite busy due to the discounted price and the easy access to the water. Last but not least, it is very likely that the R.D. Idrija is going to stock the C&R district with plenty of big fish to please the occasional foreign visitors, just like the R.D. Tomin has done on the no-kill above the Baca inlet.

It might be worth trying the C&R on weekdays, but I will surely go fishing elsewhere during the weekend.

V�eraj sem pre�ivel �udovit dan na Idrijci. Dopoldne so bile ribe lene in prijemale v glavnem na potopke in manj�e potezanke. Kljub temu je bilo nekaj zelo lepih primerkov poto�nic, lipanov in �arenk. Po kosilu (seveda smo jedli �likrofe

) pa se za�ela aktivnost stopnjevati tudi na gladini. Proti ve�eru je bilo nad vodo vse ve� �u�elk in v kon�ni fazi so dobesedno zamegljevale pogled

Seveda so ribe to opazile in se za�ele mno�i�no hraniti na gladini. Tako sta bili zadnji 2 uri ribolova "kot v pravljici"

Skratka res lep dan. RD Idrija pa pohvala za stanje rib v vodi. V celem dnevu nisva ne jaz ne prijatelj kljub obilici rib ujela niti ene vlo�ene, ob bregu pa je vse polno malih ribic.

Hey Look,
I'll post more pictures in late June, as soon as I return from my upcoming 10 day trip to Slovenia.

By the way, one of my little projects for the next winter season will be to scan a bunch of old pictures, since I have many nice fishing slides and prints shot in Slovenia from 1992 to 2006.

Kot sem �e na jo�konovi strani napisal, kak�nih te�av zaradi uporabe mehke palice sploh ni pri takih ribah! Le malo bolj se upogne in kak�en pobeg ve� in to je to. �e pa bi hotel mal pritisnit, pa bi se dalo ven ribo dobit isto kot z mo�nej�o palico.

Druga�e pa upam �e na ve� takh dni!

hi Dickerson,
it must me you yesterday in Idrijca (RD Idrija) near village Travnik. My car was behind yours. I saw you with your red rod (your's bambu).
I'm to sad we did not exchange a couple of words.
It was a little bit bad day for fishing, wasn't it? But in the same place where you saw me (on accindent) i cauht this nice marble. It bite's a little trout (about 15 cm) in the end of my line and a pheasant tail slides on his mouth.

Zdravo Luka,

ne vem, ali se to dogaja samo meni, ali je to pri vas, ki ste na Idrijci �doma�i� normalno. Letos sem se tudi jaz namenil loviti na Idrijci (RD Idrija). Do sedaj trikrat. �e prvi� mi je ob utrujanju cca 25 cm velikega lipana v Spodnji Idriji le tega napadla so�ka, ki sem jo ocenil na cca 80+. Ko sem jo �etrti� �lepo zapeto na suho muho� pripeljal pod noge, mi je, ne strgala 0,12 predvrvico, ampak je po�il na krivini trnek TMC 100, #14. Riba, kot je ne bom nikoli ve� �util na palici sem si mislil. Ne premetavam zonkerjev in podobnih �erjev (beri killer-jev). Drugi�, ko sem lovil, mi je 51 cm veliko �arenko napadala so�ka, spet pribli�no enake velikosti kot prej�nja. �e pod mojimi nogami jo je napadala. A ujeta je bila le prevelik zalogaj. In tretji�, v�eraj, ko sem proti sebi vlekel cca 15 cm �arenko vidim v globini senco, ki je za�ela napadi to ribo. Ha, �arenko je pred mojimi o�mi 15 m od mene ujela, jo pojedla, ajdovka (#14 na 0,12) pa se je so�ki zadrla v nebo ust in po utrujanju sem jo uspe�no �spravil na suho�. 63 cm so�ka je po hitri fotoseansi odplavala pod svojo polico.

Morda pa bi bila na mestu nova rubrika: �neverjetne prigode� ali �saj ni res pa je� ali �lovske zgodbe�.

Takih in podobnih zgodb, je v na�ih arzenalih (beri spominih ) kar nekaj. Bilo bi prav zanimivo prebrati kak tak dogodek iz va�ih do�ivetij za vodo, zato predlagam da odpremo novo temo z naslovom : Na meji verjetnega...........
Sam sem imel podobnih dogodkov kot Igor, med muharjenjem, pa ne samo s so�kimi lepoticami, temve� tudi s sulci, ��ukami in poto�nicami, kar nekaj; Lahko bi napolnil knjigo s spomini, no najbolj mi je ostal v spominu ravno dogodek s so�ko velikanko v zgornjih koritih ( Zavodov del So�e ), ki mi je brez problema s trneka snela �arenko 60+cm. Ko je po nekaj minutni borbi z mojo 0,22mm trnico, odplavala nazaj pod oboke korit, sem si vsedel na skalo in od adrenalinskega �oka sem �e dobrih 20 minut nemo strmel v vodo. Velikanka je bila po moji oceni krepko preko metra dol�ine....�e velikokrat sem se kasneje vra�al tja s te�ko artilerijo, no �al te ribe nisem nikoli ve� videl....
