I just wanted to share with the forum community the pictures of two huge moths that I took streamside a few days ago on my way back to the car after the evening hatch. As you can see, these giant night butterflies (approximately 8-10 cm. long) were sucking pollen from the flowers with their XXL tongues. I can’t help wondering about whatever happens in the event that such a big chunk of meat hits the water where our beloved trout dwell !

Hey,
Taking the pictures wasn't difficult at all, since the moths were not scared by the proximity of the camera while sucking the nectar, but the really amazing think about the photos that I shot on the banks of the Aniene river near Rome is the enormous size of the bugs.
At first sight, I thought that those flying creatures were small birds instead of giant insects!
