Looking for ideas of dry flies to tie that are good for the begining of July (and sizes) when I will come down. I will fish in Idrija, Baca the first 3 days then 2 days in the upper Soca and Lepenja. I would also be happy if you could give me some ideas of hot-spots for catching big graylings. I have seen some pictures on the web with really big ones. If you don't want to post your mesage here open, please send me an PM. Thanks in advance! // Czech (Swedish flyfisherman) www flyfishingslovenia com www.flyfishingslovenia.com www medfluga se www.medfluga.se |

Hey Czech and welcome to our forum board! At Idrijca and Baca rivers you will probably be successful using some natural colored CDC patterns (F- flies, F-sedges, CDC&elks, etc.) tied on #12, #14 or #16 hooks and fine tippets (6X and 7X). These patterns will work at the Soca and Lepena too, but sometimes following flies might be a better choice: witch, different dressings of bivisibles, smaller zulu´s, CDC needle flies, gray, grizzly and black sedges, etc. For a larger graylings I would suggest you to try Soca managed by the Tolmin fishing club (lower parts above Tolmin) also, but in upper Soca, best places are below the confluence with the Lepena river I hope this info helps and I wish you a really pleasant stay in Slovenia! Tight lines, Lucky |
