This is NOT a fishing report, since I've never had the chance to cast a fly in the green and blue waters of this beautiful tributary to the mighty Soca river, but during my 2009 fishing trip to Slovenia I did a little of "scouting" along the steep and pristine Ucja valley.

It's very hard to get anywhere close to the water with the car, and I wouldn't venture down the canjon on my own: even from a distance it looks an even more wild and remote "version" of the Tolminka!

Has any forum member ever been down there with fly, rod and reel?

The mysterious Ucja is already on my "priority list" for the year 2010!

Fishing in the wild and steep Učja gorge with my friend “Urni” was a great experience, and by the way: look at how he climbs on the bare rocks of the canyon!

This small, pictoresque stream is a truly pristine environment, quite reminiscent of the Tolminska korita ... without the "no fishing" posts!

UÄŤja trout are nothing to write home about as far as mere size is concerned, but the beauty of its tiny, native marbles, hybrids and browns is hard to describe.

 I also add some pictures of the wonderful small river Učja! I was there flyfishing together with my fredn "dickerson" . In honor of me was, that I spent the day, together with a truly intuzijast fly-fisherman!
