Current water conditions (from the R.D. Tolmin web site):

River Water level Water clarity Fishing conditions

SoÄŤa High Muddy Bad
Idrijca High Murky Bad
BaÄŤa Medium Murky Good
NadiĹľa Medium Murky Good
Tolminka High Muddy Bad
Trebuščica Medium Murky Good

____________

In May 2007 the situation was totally different: no rain and extremely low water levels.

Even if I believe that this abundance of precipitations is good for the river systems and the mountains, after the snow and rain shortage that they suffered last year, I still hope that the sunny season will start anytime soon in order to pack my rods and enjoy a few days of 1° class flyfishing in Slovenia !

Last year we prayed for rain and this year for sun! At the end, it is nature and we people are helpless as ever!!!

To love nature is to accept it and be ready for whatever comes.

Rainy days in late May surely look miserable, but are absolutely essential for the health of the river systems.

By the way, I have the "gut feeling" that as soon as the weather and water conditions will be back to normal the 2008 fishing season is going to be memorable !
