I am going to slovenia very soon to fish with my father but my father has never practiced fly-fishing before so I try to find rivers where he can go spinning. Can you please give me some rivers or parts of rivers? We are going to live near Tolmin so please give me especially spots in western slovenia, but you can also give me other rivers, we never know... It is possible to practice spinning for trout in in the lower part of the river Soca, from the Italian border to the railroad bridge near the village Podselo. r

thank you is it the only slovenian river where we can fish trout spinning? I've heard it was also possible in the river Vipava? Is it right? jv |

I think your best option is, as ras suggested, lower Soca. However, check the limitations regarding the smallest size of lures allowed. There are some other waters, where you can spin for trout, however those are normally lakes, so you could be limited with a flyrod. Lakes like Mavcice, Zbilje, Bohinj, allow spin fishing, but in most of them, you would be limited with trout flyfishing possibilities, although it is possible. There are also other species in some of them - chub, pike, zander etc., which can also be targeted with spin and fly tackle. Jure |
